The Tournament

Tournament Courses & Dates

The Causeway Coast Tournament 2023 will be played at Royal Portrush, Ballycastle, Castlerock and Ballyliffin Golf Clubs.

The Tournament will be played over five days Monday 5TH to Friday 9TH June. Each Player will play on four of the five days with a rest day.


Handicaps/Restrictions

The event is open to gentlemen over the age of 18. The maximum playing handicap will be 24. Each player must carry a copy of their handicap index each day.

All players must be members of golf clubs recognised and affiliated to their country’s governing body and have an official handicap. In accordance with 2008-2011 CONGU Handicapping Scheme all scores in this competition must be returned to the home club by the player concerned – See Clause 8.12. The handicap committee of the home club will consider them in accordance with Clause 23 either as part of the annual review or if appropriate, for an immediate cut under Clause 23B – General Play Adjustment.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to revise any players handicap before or during the Tournament.


Format

The overall competition is run on Stableford format. Concurrently with the main Tournament a subsidiary competition is run each day at each course with trophies and prizes for the best scores returned.


Entrance Fees

Host / Partner Club Members.   Contact your Club for details. Host Clubs are Royal Portrush, Ballycastle, Castlerock and Ballyliffin. Partner Clubs are North West, Rathmore and Bushfoot.

Golf Ireland Members £205

Visitors outside Ireland £315*    *Visitors outside Ireland will be entitled to complimentary practice Rounds after 4.00 pm from the Monday to Friday preceding the Tournament. At all other times charging is at the discretion of the clubs.

Entrance fees will not be refunded after 13th May 2023

Entries will close when the Tournament limit of 600 entries has been reached.


The Draw

The Tournament Director will endeavour where possible to fulfil requests for specific rest days and tee times however this cannot be guaranteed. Tee times may be subject to change at short notice.

The draw will be posted at the participating Clubs and on the Tournament website a minimum of seven days before the Tournament.


Suspension or Cancellation of Play

Should play have to be suspended or cancelled by any event outside the control of the Tournament Committee (for example adverse weather) the Committee will make the final decision regarding revision of play or awarding of prizes.

2023 Handicapping

For the duration of the Tournament only the Organising Committee has decided the following handicap rules will apply.

  • Players will require their World Handicap Index each day
  • Playing Handicap will be 95% of the Course Handicap.
  • The maximum playing handicap will be 24
  • For the top 10 players at each course each day the following cuts will be applied to their WHI.
  • 1st      -2.0
  • 2nd     -1.8
  • 3rd     -1.6
  • 4th     -1.4
  • 5th     -1.2
  • 6th     -1.0
  • 7th     -0.8
  • 8th     -0.6
  • 9th     -0.4
  • 10th   -0.2

It is incumbent on all players to return their scores to their clubs or relevant governing bodies
